Fulham Reach Boat Club

About us

Fulham Reach Boat Club is a charity and community boat club that has a unique vision to improve lives through rowing by providing Rowing for All. We aim to give access to rowing to a cross section of our community especially those are who are most in need because of financial hardship or social circumstance and help them realise their full potential both on and off the water.

We increase the participation levels within rowing among local state schools as well as the wider community. We work with 12 state schools in Hammersmith & Fulham and help them to deliver rowing sessions on the Thames. Through rowing we teach students about focus, teamwork, confidence and communication, life skills that are not easily taught in the classroom.  Our focus is always on supporting socially disadvantaged pupils who have a need for fair access to the power of sport and an active lifestyle.

We also run a project called Boats not Bars which takes rowing into prisons and aims to reduce the reoffending rate of serving prisoners through access to indoor and outdoor rowing clubs.

During the long Summer and Easter holiday breaks we run free holiday activity courses for pupils who are in receipt of free school meals during term time.  These free to attend courses for local children from low income families offer them somewhere to be, with something to do and some food to eat.

Finally, we give access to Rowing for All to everyone in our local community. We offer year round Learn to Row courses for the wider community and an annual membership for adults. We also have a junior membership base for students who do not attend one of our focus schools.  We offer junior bursaries to support those young people who want to join or continue their rowing outside of our state school programme and need financial support in order to do so.  We also offer indoor training courses on our rowing machines, personal coaching sessions and events on the river promoting the club and increasing rowing accessibility.

FRBC is British Rowing's Club of the Year 2020, 2021 and Project of the Year 2020 and became the proud winner of Hammersmith and Fulham’s Inclusive Project of the Year 2022 at their annual Sports Awards.
